Arne Slot chanted Jurgen Klopp’s name after guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title on Sunday – returning the gesture after his welcome song last year.
Klopp had sung the name of his successor following his final match at Anfield at the end of last season, using the lyrics ‘Arne Slot, la la la la la la’.
After his Reds team crushed Tottenham 5-1 to secure the title, Slot seized the moment to pay his own tribute to Klopp, who also lifted the trophy at Anfield.
Changing the lyrics slightly to include Klopp’s name instead, Slot led the entire stadium in the singalong before being showered in champagne.
The emphatic victory delivered Liverpool’s record-equalling 20th league crown, moving them level with Manchester United, and capped a superb first season for Slot.
There were initial doubts about whether he could replicate Klopp’s success during his spell between 2015 and 2024, but Klopp had used his farewell speech to wish Slot luck.

Klopp had used his farewell Anfield speech to serenade Slot – and the Dutchman repaid the favour.
Slot was then soaked in champagne by his ecstatic players at a jubilant Anfield.
Clearly, Slot appreciated the gesture and returned it in kind.
‘The least I can do now is show my appreciation to Jurgen, so here we go,’ he said, before leading the chant to the tune of Live is Life by Austrian band Opus.
Shortly after replacing Klopp, Slot admitted that people were singing the tune outside his house in the Netherlands.
‘Right after it happened, I got so many messages from people who saw this and sent it to me,’ he told the club website in his first interview.
‘Yeah, I think that’s one of the reasons why he’s so beloved here. Of course, he won trophies, but to do that for your successor…
‘I don’t think it’s ever happened before that fans – or even the former manager – sang your name before you even arrived.
‘It says everything about him, and I’m hoping, hoping, that fans will sing again next season – maybe not my name but for the players. Even in Zwolle now, people walk past my house singing!
‘So it clearly had an impact!’

Slot reflected proudly after his side dismantled Tottenham.
‘We knew we couldn’t lose this game,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘Everyone on the bus said: “There’s no way we lose this game.” They always find a way to win.’
‘I’m incredibly proud – not only of the players but also the people standing here, the sporting directors, the staff. We should applaud them too.’
‘Let’s forget that it’s just the second title in 35 years – it’s the second in five years.’
