Man City Eye Milos Kerkez but Unwilling to Compete with Liverpool in Transfer Chase
Manchester City have reportedly joined the race for Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez, though the reigning champions are said to be hesitant about entering a bidding war — giving Liverpool a major boost in their pursuit of the highly-rated left-back.
Kerkez has been a standout performer for Bournemouth this season, earning praise for his well-rounded play. Solid at the back and energetic going forward, the Hungarian has contributed two goals and six assists in the Premier League, including two assists against City themselves and an excellent cross in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
After impressing directly against Pep Guardiola’s side, it’s no surprise that City have taken an interest. According to Football Transfers, they’ve already held “initial talks” with Kerkez’s representatives and are known admirers of the player.
However, those early discussions have reportedly not gone well, with City said to be “far from impressed” so far — and crucially, they’re unwilling to engage in a financial battle for the defender.
Liverpool Leading the Race
That hesitation could leave Liverpool in pole position. TEAMtalk previously reported that Kerkez is a top summer target for the Reds, and with City reluctant to push aggressively, Liverpool’s path to securing his signature appears clearer than ever.
Kerkez is reportedly keen to join a club where he can compete for major trophies, making Liverpool an ideal destination. With consistent links and early groundwork laid, the Merseyside club may soon land their priority defensive signing.
Liverpool Transfer Updates: Trent & Nunez Set to Depart?
Elsewhere in Liverpool news, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s expected exit appears to remain on track, despite changes at Real Madrid. Reports linking him to the Spanish giants persist, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the potential move is not dependent on who takes over as manager in Madrid.
“Trent didn’t negotiate based on who the coach would be,” Romano stated. “The offer from Real Madrid stands regardless of the managerial situation.”
Another name who could be on the way out is Darwin Nunez. Romano also reports that the Uruguayan striker is “expected to leave” during the summer transfer window.
That potential departure has sparked interest in new attacking options. According to fresh reports, Liverpool are now preparing a “serious offer” for Aston Villa’s exciting forward Morgan Rogers, who has caught the eye with his recent performances.
With several moves seemingly in motion, this summer could see a major reshaping of Liverpool’s squad — with Kerkez possibly arriving as one of the first big additions.
