Salah ‘invisible’ against PSG: 0 shots, lost the ball 14 times

Liverpool’s expected star, Mohamed Salah had a lackluster performance in the 1-0 win over PSG.

Mohamed Salah had an extremely impressive 2024/25 season with 52 goal involvements (30 goals, 22 assists) after 39 matches in all competitions. However, in the match against PSG, the Egyptian star was completely obscure, leaving no mark.

Facing a dominant PSG, Salah was almost invisible in Liverpool’s system. While the French team’s attacking trio – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele – continuously created storms, Salah did not have a single successful shot or dribble.

Sofascore stats on Salah’s performance at Parc des Princes:

37 touches

17/19 passes completed (89%)

0/8 duels won

0/4 successful dribbles

14 lost possession

1 interception

0 shots

Salah’s failure to get any shots off and his constant exposure is highly unusual for a player in his form.

Manager Arne Slot will not be happy with Salah’s lacklustre display. Luckily for Liverpool, Alisson Becker had a brilliant day, and super-sub Harvey Elliott shone in stoppage time to help his team secure a narrow victory.

Salah will need to find his form quickly if he does not want to continue to be criticised. The two upcoming important matches against Southampton (March 8) and PSG (March 11) will be his chance to redeem himself.
