Manchester United were dumped out of the FA Cup last 16 by Fulham in devastating fashion as they missed two penalties to crash out of the competition they won last year.

Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee both saw their efforts saved in the shoot-out after United stumbled to a 1-1 stalemate over 120 minutes at Old Trafford.

Calvin Bassey had stunned the home crowd just moments before half-time as he opened the scoring with a header.

But Bruno Fernandes hit back in the second half with a superbly taken first-time shot with his left foot to instil the hosts with hope.

Alas, it was not enough for Ruben Amorim’s side as they could not hold their nerve when it mattered.
