‘That’s what I’m here for’ – Ruud van Nistelrooy sends ‘strong’ message to Ruben Amorim after help Man Utd crush Leicester City

Ruud van Nistelrooy discussed his Manchester United future after the Dutchman made a winning start to life as interim manager.

United recorded a convincing 5-2 win over Leicester City on Wednesday as goals from Casemiro [2], Bruno Fernandes [2] and Alejandro Garnacho sealed their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

Ahead of the clash at Old Trafford, the biggest talking point has been Ruben Amorim’s future as he looks set to succeed Erik ten Hag as the next permanent manager.

United have already informed Sporting CP of their intention to activate Amorim’s release clause of around €10 million [£8.3m] after he verbally agreed to take arguably the most pressurised job in football.

But for the time being, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge on a temporary basis – and he made a great first impression on Wednesday night.
