Manchester United’s “Barca gem” Fermin Lopez rejected an offer of 70 million euros and double his salary

Recruiting a new central midfielder is an important task for MU in the next transfer window. The “Red Devils” have decided not to renew Christian Eriksen’s contract and will also try to push Casemiro, a star who has fallen out of favor under coach Ruben Amorim.

Spanish publication Sport said that MU had tried to carry out the plan right in the winter market. However, the “Red Devils” made a strong offer but were flatly rejected by potential target Fermin Lopez.

In exchange for the service of the “precious gem” of La Masia, MU agreed to pay Barca 70 million euros. The “Red Devils” also offered him a salary of 130,000 pounds/week, double what Lopez is currently receiving at Camp Nou, to convince him to join.

However, Lopez is determined to stick with his home club and immediately rejected the attractive offer from the English giant. The 21-year-old midfielder has contributed 15 goals and 6 assists in 66 appearances for Barca in all competitions. Lopez has been praised and promised to be used by coach Hansi Flick many times.

Failing in the Lopez deal, Douglas Luiz became MU’s replacement. The “Red Devils” left open the possibility of exchanging Joshua Zirkzee, to welcome the Juventus midfielder back to the Premier League in the opposite direction.
