Rashford moves to Aston Villa, MU looks for replacement

27-year-old striker Marcus Rashford is expected to complete a medical on Sunday (February 2) before officially moving to Villa Park on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Rashford’s future has been decided

According to reputable sources, Rashford will join Aston Villa on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season. Notably, the agreement includes a clause allowing Villa to buy the English striker outright for a fee of £40 million. Rashford’s agreement to join the Villa Park team has closed the deal that has been the subject of much press coverage in the past two months.

The 1997-born star has agreed personal terms with coach Unai Emery’s team. During his time playing for Villa, the club will pay 70% of Rashford’s huge £350,000/week salary. In addition, the contract also includes bonuses based on Villa’s achievements in Europe and the race for a Champions League ticket.

Rashford has not played for the “Red Devils” since mid-December, after having serious disagreements with coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese strategist questioned his professionalism, as well as his fighting spirit. After 19 years with the Old Trafford team, Rashford will now play for another club for the first time in his professional career.

Before leaving for Birmingham, Rashford had a farewell meeting with his teammates and staff at MU on Saturday. Rashford is now ready for a new challenge with Aston Villa.

MU is looking for a replacement

Immediately after reaching an agreement to loan Rashford, the Old Trafford team began looking for a replacement. They are considering many names for the attack, including Leon Bailey of Aston Villa. In addition, Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich) and Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea) are also potential options.

The “Red Devils” need to quickly add personnel, especially when their attack has been ineffective in recent times. Finding a suitable name will be an important problem for coach Ruben Amorim in the rest of the season.

Rashford’s departure from Old Trafford, even if only temporarily, marks a turning point in his career. Aston Villa hopes to help him regain his peak form, while MU is facing the difficult task of finding a worthy replacement. The winter transfer market is about to close, and the coming days promise to be very exciting for both teams.
