After nearly every player on the roster sustained injuries over 82 games last season, the Memphis Grizzlies were hoping for an injury-free season. Unfortunately, they are currently dealing with another injury issue, which has resulted in the absence of franchise point player Ja Morant. In response to fans’ fervent desire for Morant to return to the court, the Grizzlies guard gave an update on X’s injury.
“Quicker than you anticipate. I am the source.
Due to a hip injury he acquired during a 17-point victory over the Los Angeles Lakers a few weeks ago, Morant has missed the previous five Grizzlies games. Although the Grizz’s official homecoming timeline is unknown, it appears that it may not be as long as supporters had anticipated.
Injuries have also hindered the team this season, although in recent games, key players like Desmond Bane have begun to return to the court. GG Jackson, who is anticipated to make a comeback from a foot injury in January 2025, is the only rotational player out for the foreseeable future.
This season, Morant is averaging 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 9.1 assists. The Grizzlies are now 8-6. After missing the 2024 Playoffs, they are vying for a playoff seed and will be aiming for a top-six finish to ensure their return to the postseason.
The Grizzlies will require good fortune.
With players coming back from injuries at the ideal time, the club should soon be rotating its top players. With a winning record and a spot in the top 10 of the Western Conference, the Grizzlies have been able to stay afloat without Morant on the court.
Every Playoff club may need to aim for 50 wins during the regular season since the Conference is as competitive as ever. The injury gods must be on your side for it to occur, and the Grizzlies will feel that they deserve some thought regarding this aspect.
Although there is currently no estimated time of Morant’s comeback, the point guard has expressed hope that he will return sooner rather than later. He will probably return before December because when he sustained the injury, it was anticipated that he would be sidelined for at least a month.
The team will exhale collectively if Morant returns to the court before their last November game against the New Orleans Pelicans, even if he won’t be playing in their back-to-back home games against the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers over the next two days.
