However, the game remained tumultuous as Dallas began the fourth quarter with a 23-9 run, led by eight points by Thompson as the visitors seemed to gain control. With Curry on the court, no lead is secure, and with some incredible shot-making in the closing minutes, the two-time MVP made sure he would have the last laugh over Thompson and his new team.Curry shot 5 of 12 from three-point range and 14 of 27 from the field to finish with 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists. After a dagger three over Dereck Lively II in the last 30 seconds, the 36-year-old was as excited as we had ever seen him, indicating what it meant for him and his squad to win on their home court.

Green came out of the gates with some amazing plays on both ends in a solid first period, demonstrating that he was also prepared and eager to face his former teammate. His late-game defense, which included a crucial block on the much larger Daniel Gafford, was nearly as impressive as Curry’s scoring.

Thompson scored 22 points on 7 of 17 shots and 6 of 12 from outside the arc, for a total of 73 points alongside Kyrie Irving (21) and Luka Doncic (31). After losing to the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets in their previous two games, the Mavericks have now dropped their last three games by a total six points.

In what is becoming into a potent bench tandem, Jonathan Kuminga put up another impressive performance with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while Buddy Hield added 14 points. In a starting role, De’Anthony Melton performed admirably once more, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists, including a crucial three-pointer in the closing seconds prior to Curry’s tirade.

Ahead of their next NBA Cup matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies at Chase Center on Friday, the Warriors are at 9-2 on the season.
