On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 127-116 thanks to 36 points from Stephen Curry and a late comeback.

With forward Chet Holmgren sidelined following a right hip injury sustained in the first quarter, it was a double blow for the Thunder. A game between two of the best clubs in the Western Conference was ruined by the injury.

The Warriors had 20 points from Jonathan Kuminga, 19 points and 10 rebounds from De’Anthony Melton, and 18 points from Andrew Wiggins.Late in the third quarter, Golden State had a 30-point lead before the Thunder came roaring back. With 4:46 remaining, Alex Caruso’s steal and slam reduced Golden State’s advantage to six points before the Warriors took back the lead.

The Thunder’s first home loss of the season came despite 24 points from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and 20 from Jalen Williams.

Warriors: Oklahoma City supporters have become accustomed to seeing this version of Curry when he comes to town. The 36-year-old demonstrated that his club is difficult to stop when he is on by making 7 of 13 3-pointers and shooting 13 of 23 overall.Thunder: The 7-foot-1 Holmgren’s ability to cover for his teammates’ errors and protect the rim helped Oklahoma City lead the league in defensive rating. The Thunder were less effective defending around the rim without him, and the guards were less able to gamble.

With 3:23 left, Curry made a 3-pointer while tumbling to the floor, cutting Oklahoma City’s deficit to 116-108. For the remainder of the game, the Warriors had a lead of at least seven.

Golden State’s field goal percentage was 50.6%. The Thunder opponent shot over 50% for the first time this season.

The Thunder host the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, while Golden State travels to Dallas on Tuesday.
