From dressing up as Batman and defeating Wladimir Klitchsko to being too obese to wear a suit, Tyson Fury’s tailor chronicles Gypsy King’s extraordinary journey

This is a tremendous improvement over the five years ago when the Gypsy King told Nav’s tailor that he was overweight and couldn’t wear his clothes.
In 2016, Fury’s despondency reached a peak, and he gained a weight of 28 stone—far too much for Nav to manage.

He lost an incredible ten stone for his return fight against Sefer Seferi nearly exactly a year ago, thanks to his motivational weight loss journey.

The heavyweight star has paid back Nav, a marketing director and stylist at Claudio Lugli in Brent Cross, who stood by him while he was down and out.

“He reached a point where he messaged me on a voice note saying ‘Nav I’m too fat for your suits,’ and that was at the height of his depression,” the 30-year-old revealed to SunSport.

Suddenly, we’re talking about going from 3x XL to 6x XL, and I realized I couldn’t contact him anymore.

He never looked well at the occasions I watched him attend. ‘I know you’re going through something right now, we’re still here,’ I stretched out and said. Many individuals will vanish when you’re at your worst.

Since we have his exact measurements, seeing his weight drop has been motivating. He has gone down four or five waist sizes, as we have witnessed.

I believe he was the most toned he has ever been when we styled him last. We will remember this incredible change fondly. He shed a human-sized amount of weight.

It was no small feat to design garments to complement Fury’s vibrant and flamboyant persona.

During last month’s press conference, the lineal champion proudly wore his last creation—a smoky suit paired with an amazing blouse depicting hand-drawn heavyweight champions from a bygone period.

Suits take approximately six to eight weeks to manufacture and cost about £500; shirts are about £90 apiece.
Nav had the perfect idea for Fury’s first excursion to Sin City—something that would be impossible to overlook.

“Nav, when I go to Vegas, it needs to be a statement piece. It needs to be bold,” Fury told him, he continued. We wanted to find a way to top the McGregor vs. Mayweather bout, where Mayweather wore the F*** You pinstripe.

As a result, we created a printed suit—something I’ve never seen before in boxing—. We meticulously detailed every detail, taking our cues from the lineal championship heavyweights he looks up to.

It dives into history and something essential to him because we had another one that was made from 1910 cigarette cards. Do not disregard it. For better or worse, you can’t turn a blind eye to it. He exudes confidence, which aligns perfectly with our designs.

Nav got his first taste of Fury’s style when preparing him for his bout with Wladimir Klitschko.

However, he was concerned that everything he had done had been in vain when Fury showed there disguised as Batman.

According to Nav, there’s a famous picture of Klitchkso clutching all of his belts while Tyson stands behind him in a polo shirt.

I believe he was the most toned he has ever been when we styled him last. What a remarkable change!

Someone sent me that photo and instructed me to take care of him and provide him with sharp clothing.

Upon initially seeing him, I want something very pointed. A three-piece suit that evoked images of a gangster from the 1950s was my choice.

In the end, he had an instant affinity for the armor, and he transformed the suit into his Bruce Wayne ensemble.

“I was standing next to his wife, Paris, and I asked, ‘Has he packed the suit?'” He was frantically racing about in his Batman outfit for his Klitchsko presser. She responded, “I really don’t understand what he’s doing,” citing the fact that he arrived in a Lamborghini and acts similarly to Batman.

There isn’t a single article of clothes that I’ve removed. Then he reappears, this time donning the Bruce Wayne costume.

His lively and witty character was immediately understood by me. I felt this was great, and we can look at this through his clothes, since he is courageous.
Conor McGregor, Anthony Crolla, Michael Bisping, and Jimi Manuwa are just a few of the athletes that have sported Nav’s designs, thanks to his dogged determination and genuine enthusiasm for the sport.

However, a slew of famous athletes were let in by Amir Khan, a former light-welterweight world champion.

“Amir Khan was the one who opened the door into boxing,” he stated.

Using Instagram, Twitter, emails, and phone calls to agents, I would photograph clothing and create mood boards, which I would then send to different celebrities. Khan was the only one out of one hundred to return the call.

Everything looks great, he exclaimed. Could you please allow me to see you at the stores? He came with his entourage and he showed us massive love. Those who had come from far and wide to see him caused the establishment to close down.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to Amir for introducing us to such a large audience.

“That led to him opening the door for us to meet McGregor. That got us seen on various different outlets. On one of his press runs it led to a mutual friend of Tyson’s getting in touch and the rest is history.

“When I worked with McGregor it was five or six years ago when he was fighting Dennis Siver, which led to him fighting Chad Mendes.

“He wasn’t the McGregor we know today. I thought McGregor and Bisping would be massive for the brand. McGregor was undefeated and Bisping had just won the Ultimate Fighter. We couldn’t get hold of Bisping so Mcgregor was next at the time.

“It’s all so surreal. I’m just trying to roll with it. Even when you hit the height. We have these victories but I’m still here at 9:30am for a normal day.”

Nav, alongside his cousin Shaz Salimian, will be ready to party with Fury in Vegas should he beat the undefeated German on Saturday.

He is no stranger to the process after being part of the team for that controversial draw with Wilder in December.
