Smith is widely considered the best sports personality on television today, while Durant is one of the most dominant scorers in NBA history. Both are superstars in their own right. Therefore, it should be no surprise that the two don’t always agree and that neither of them is scared to voice their opinions.

That’s precisely what happened on Saturday when Durant slammed Smith after the Suns defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 103-97.

Durant targets SmithDurant objected to some of Smith’s remarks regarding his capacity for leadership. It follows Suns coach Mike Budenholzer’s statement that he is quite happy with Durant’s leadership abilities, describing his efforts as “off the charts.”

When Smith addressed the media on Saturday, the Suns star took issue with his harsh remarks about Durant’s leadership skills.

Kevin Durant achieves another rare milestone

“Yeah, Stephen A., I don’t understand how people even listen to Stephen A.,” Durant made clear to The Athletic.

“I have eighteen years of league experience. I have never seen Stephen A. during a shoot-around, filming, or practice. He just talks shit about players on TV, and that’s the only place I’ve ever seen him. I think he’s a clown. He’s been a clown all his life. You’re also capable of writing that.

Durant stated that although he is aware of how sports talk operates, he didn’t want to hear it from someone who exclusively speaks at a desk.
