Daniel Dubois explains how he thinks the Gypsy King should approach the rematch and asserts that Tyson Fury has what it takes to defeat Oleksandr Usyk on December 21.
By depriving Fury of his WBC championship in May, Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight world champion of the four-belt era and cemented his place in boxing history.
On December 21, Fury and Usyk will square off again. The Gypsy King is hoping to exact retribution after losing the previous fight by split decision, with the Ukrainian winning by scores of 115–112, 113–114, and 114–113.Dubois, who just defeated Anthony Joshua, is sure that Fury can defeat Usyk. To avoid another defeat, DDD is adamant that the Gypsy King ‘jump on Usyk and smother him’.
‘I’m still behind Fury [for the win]’, Dubois stated in an interview with Podlounge UK on Fury’s rematch with Usyk. I’m hoping our man succeeds. Usyk can do it. He should be smothered by Fury jumping on him.’Fury is a slick boxer too, but it will be a tremendous battle and I’ll be out there calling on to fight the winner,’ the 27-year-old IBF World Heavyweight Champion continued.
In order to compete for the indisputable title, Dubois is keen to meet the victor of Usyk vs. Fury. Currently, Usyk is the owner of the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles, while Dubois is the owner of the IBF title. After Usyk was obliged to give up the title in order to get a rematch with Fury, Dubois was promoted from “interim” to full IBF world champion in June. However, in his fight with AJ, Dubois shown that he was a deserving champion.
When Joshua faced his fellow Brit at Wembley on September 21, he was hoping to win the title three times, but he was beaten in the first round and was unable to bounce back.
In his first championship defense, Dubois shocked the world by knocking out AJ in five rounds, solidifying his status as a legitimate champion. He is now trying to win the final three belts.
