The Warriors overcome the Pelicans 124-106 by using their depth despite missing starters Curry and Wiggins

The Golden State Warriors defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 124-106 on Tuesday night after Buddy Hield scored a season-high 28 points, Brandin Podziemski scored 19 points and led a ferocious second-half comeback, and the team overcame an early 20-point deficit.

For New Orleans, Zion Williamson finished with eight rebounds and a season-high 31 points on 12-for-20 shooting. 30 points were scored by Brandon Ingram.

Jonathan Kuminga scored 17 points off the bench after starting the first three games for Golden State, where he was averaging 8.0 points on 33.3% shooting. In his greatest performance to date for Golden State, reserve Lindy Waters III finished with 21 points and nine rebounds.With starters Andrew Wiggins and Stephen Curry out, the shorthanded Warriors needed everyone.

In the second half of Sunday’s 112-104 loss to the Clippers, Curry sprained his left ankle, forcing him to miss the game. His next evaluation is scheduled for this Friday.

Both De’Anthony Melton and Wiggins missed time due to lower back issues. On Wednesday night at Chase Center, coach Steve Kerr deemed Wiggins questionable for the second consecutive game against New Orleans.

After controlling the rebounds in the first quarter, New Orleans had a 44-34 rebounding advantage.

Warriors: The Warriors made 15 steals, pushed New Orleans into 24 for 34 points, and cut their turnovers to eight after committing 21 on Sunday. Golden State overturned a 31–14 deficit after shooting 5 for 23 in the first quarter, including 2 of 13 from 3-point range.

With 8:22 remaining in the third, Podziemski made a 3-pointer to level the score. The following time down, he scored once again, giving the Warriors a 71-67 lead they never let go of. In addition, he stopped two shots.

After a lackluster home debut on Sunday, in which he missed eight of nine 3-pointers and scored eight points, Hield made his way back into the starting lineup and overcome a poor start to make seven 3-pointers.
