One of the NBA’s top competitors and one of the most thrilling players to watch was Dwyane Wade. He has won an NBA championship three times, won an Olympic gold medal, and been named an NBA All-Star thirteen times.
The Chicago baller was selected fifth overall by the Miami Heat in the 2003 NBA Draft. Wade, who also showed off his athletic prowess for Marquette University, was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in his debut season.Wade became a legend at the Miami Heat thanks to his stellar performance, and the team erected an 8-foot bronze monument of him on the Kaseya Center’s front steps on Sunday. This is the first Heat statue to ever be placed at the team’s home arena in the 37-year history of the franchise.
Dwyane Wade viewed his face in his statue in complete surprise as the performance was filled with fire, music, and startling moments.”I didn’t play for this or take up the basketball for this, so this is not what I expected to happen. I took up the basketball in an attempt to improve my family’s lot in life. During the unveiling, an emotional Wade remarked, “I wanted to change my family’s life, so I kept going after my dad put the basketball on my hand.”
“No one is just gonna believe in your dream unless they see you working toward that dream and that belief.” said the legend of the NBA.Wade and Shaquille O’Neal, another superstar, guided Miami to its first-ever NBA Championship in 2006. In addition, he competed for the United States in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and won gold in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Wade won his second and third NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013. After playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls, he returned to the Heat in February 2018. He was the third player in NBA history to reach 20,000 points, 5,000 assists, 4,000 rebounds, 1,500 steals, 800 blocks, and 500 three-pointers in the 2018–19 campaign.
Wade’s number three jersey was retired by Miami in 2020, and Dwyane Wade Boulevard was formally established outside the HEAT arena on Northeast 7th Street at Biscayne Boulevard.
