“Mavs blue looks good on me” 💙
Klay Thompson with @ALaForce following his Dallas debut, where he made six three-pointers
When Klay Thompson makes his NBA debut in the Mavs’ victory over the Spurs and Wemby, Luka Dončić dazzles the fans
For the first time in his NBA career, Klay Thompson suited up for a team other than the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, ushering in a new era.
He and his new teammate Luka Dončić defeated Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs 120-109, making his Dallas Mavericks debut a huge success.
With 28 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, Dončić led the Dallas team, while Thompson was outstanding with 22 points on 6-of-10 from outside the arc. In his debut, he made the most three-pointers of any Maverick with six.
Even though it’s early, Dončić and Thompson seem to have a strong bond, which might help the defending Western Conference champions win everything this season.
Dallas fans enthusiastically greeted the new pair after the victory.Thompson seemed to have reached a career plateau in his last season with the Warriors. He didn’t have the explosive scoring exploits that fans had come to expect, and he averaged 17.9 points per game, his lowest since the 2012–13 campaign.
Although it was only his first game, Thompson appears to have found a new lease of life with a change of environment, which may be just what he needs right now.
