LeBron and Bronny James were sued for their claimed roles in a 2022 vehicle accident in the Antelope Valley’s Littlerock desert town, just hours after they became the first father-son team to share an NBA court.
The Lakers teammates allegedly “negligently owned, controlled, repaired, entrusted, maintained, and operated an automobile as to cause it to, and it did, become involved in an accident or collision” that injured the plaintiffs and damaged the vehicle they were in, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday morning.
The lawsuit states that on November 13, 2022, plaintiffs Kiara McGillen and April Lopez were driving on Pearblossom Highway at or close to the intersection of 87th Street when the claimed event took place. Although Lopez owns the car, McGillen was the driver. The California Highway Patrol’s Antelope Valley office could not locate a report of an accident that occurred there on that day. Whether CHP was informed of the occurrence is not stated in the lawsuit.
In addition to having “employed and will employ in the future physicians, surgeons, and others for examination, treatment, and care,” the lawsuit claims that the plaintiffs “sustained personal injuries which caused and will continue to cause pain, discomfort, and physical disability.”
Unspecified damages are what the plaintiffs are requesting. The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker, their attorney, did not immediately reply to The Times. LeBron James’s spokesperson also did not immediately reply.
