Bakhram Murtazaliev is among the greatest, according to Keith Thurman
Bakhram Murtazaliev has shown enough, in Keith Thurman’s opinion, to be given an opportunity to compete against the best junior middleweights.
Thurman, 35, of Florida, the former WBC welterweight champion in 2017, claimed that following Murtazaliev’s stunning third-round stoppage victory over Tim Tszyu on Saturday night, he is now regarded as one of the greatest in the world at the weight class.
While serving as a ringside analyst at Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Florida, Thurman stated, “When it comes to Bakhram, he came over here on a big stage and made a big statement at the biggest moment of his career to elevate himself in the beautiful ranks of boxing.”
Let’s be honest here. Do you not want to see him go up against all the names you just highlighted after tonight? You jointly press the headline.
After spending years on the outside looking in before being given the opportunity to challenge for the IBF title in April, Murtazaliev’s victory marks a critical turning point in his career. Murtazaliev had to make the trip to defeat Jack Culcay in his native Germany in order to win the IBF junior middleweight championship.
Thurman feels he’s right up there with Murtazaliev 23-0 (17), who is set to go down as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time after this decisive victory against Tszyu.
“At this point, you create the fight poster, and the fans will show up because we just learned that Bakhram will be competing. Thurman stated, “He did a great job tonight.
“I would like to see him go up against all of the amazing fighters, amazing champions, world champions, and former champions that are out there competing for him.”
Tszyu, 24-2 (17), has lost to Sebastian Fundora in March and has not won in his past two fights. Thurman was scheduled to face the Australian early in the year, but the bout was canceled when Thurman hurt his biceps during training. Rather than facing Thurman, Tszyu faced Fundora, who handed the Australian his first loss of the match.
Speaking about his current circumstance, Thurman remarked, “It’s hard.” Tim Tszyu began this year by traveling to the US, signing a contract against me, finding a rival, losing a split decision, and then attempting to challenge the world champion.
This is the boxing world. Although he has achieved remarkable success in Australia, he lacks the taste of the vastness and intensity of competition seen in the actual boxing world.
