According to Football365, Zinedine Zidane is reportedly ready to replace Erik ten Hag as manager of Manchester United. Following a poor start in the Premier League, with only 8 points from 7 matches, Zidane has emerged as a strong candidate to take over the club.
If he accepts the role, Zidane intends to sign defender Jules Kounde from Barcelona during the January transfer window. However, Barcelona has no intention of letting Kounde leave, and the player is currently committed to the Catalan club.
Manchester United Eyes Bayern Munich Trio
Manchester United is interested in signing three players from Bayern Munich: Leroy Sané, Leon Goretzka, and Alphonso Davies. Both Davies and Sané will see their contracts expire at the end of the season, opening the possibility for Manchester United to sign them on free transfers. Goretzka, although having two years left on his contract, has lost his position at Bayern and may consider a move.
United previously signed Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern last summer for €70 million and may continue negotiations to bring more stars to Old Trafford in the near future.
Bruno Fernandes Recruits Zielinski
Bruno Fernandes is reportedly trying to persuade Piotr Zielinski to join Manchester United. While Fernandes is the captain, he doesn’t have much influence over signings. Nonetheless, he wants United to sign Zielinski, who was his teammate at Udinese.
Zielinski currently plays for Inter Milan after a successful stint at Napoli. The Polish player revealed that Fernandes keeps in touch and encourages him to join United. They remain good friends and often chat since their positive relationship at Udinese.
United Targeting Real Madrid’s Interest
Alvaro Carreras, a left-back from Benfica, has attracted attention from several major clubs after impressive performances early in the season. The 21-year-old Spaniard, who left Manchester United last summer for €6 million, is now a target for Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.
With Real Madrid likely to sign Alphonso Davies next summer, Manchester United has a significant advantage as they have the option to buy back Carreras for €20 million, a reasonable fee for a young talent. Barcelona is also interested in the star, but they will face financial competition from United. If he were to join Barcelona, Carreras would have to compete for a spot with Alejandro Balde.
United Considering Re-signing Alvaro Fernandez
Manchester United is looking into the possibility of bringing back Alvaro Fernandez after he left for Benfica in the summer transfer window. The left-back crisis under Erik ten Hag has significantly affected the team’s performance in the 2024/25 season. Tyrell Malacia is out indefinitely due to a knee injury, while Luke Shaw has only played 12 times due to personal issues, leaving Ten Hag without a true left-back in the first 11 matches.
Fernandez had a season at Preston North End before joining Benfica for just £5 million. Currently, Manchester United is impressed with his development and is planning for his return. According to Record, the club is considering activating the buyback clause in his contract with Benfica.
If this occurs, Manchester United could re-sign Fernandez for around £17 million. The return of the Spanish U21 international could provide a solution to the team’s current issues.
