Spending $70 million on a private jet that honors the legendary Nike sneaker line, Michael Jordan is living the high life.
Jordan just dropped $2 million on an exclusive Italian sports vehicle, and now he’s blowing even more money on a gorgeous new plane with a special $500,000 paint job.
The Gulfstream 650ER, owned by the six-time NBA champion, is the record holder for “the farthest fastest flight in business aviation history,” according to its website.Having invested six figures in his own custom paint work, inspired by his elephant-print ‘Air Jordan’ footwear, he decided on a silver-and-black theme.
To complete the look, a large white print of Michael Jordan’s famous Jumpman insignia appears on the back of the shoe.
The tail number, N236MJ, features his initials, the amount of championship rings he earned, and the No. 23 jersey he made famous throughout his illustrious career.
The jet features two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines and a maximum speed of 0.925 Mach.
Jordan’s opulent new aircraft has room for up to 19 passengers and 4 crew members.
With enormous beige leather reclining seats at each window, every passenger is shown the kind of luxury that the $3.5 billionaire Michael Jackson regularly enjoys.
Meals are served in a separate area of the airplane that folds out from the furniture and is fully furnished with LED lighting.Jordan can also shut his eyes in a chic private bedroom when he’s exhausted from a lengthy drive.
The 100-foot-long aircraft has undergone significant modifications from him so that it can fly for up to 13 hours without requiring refueling.
The Chicago Bulls legend will continue to incur expenses for maintaining the aircraft, with maintenance scheduled at $1,860,909 annually for 200 flight hours, according to The Sun.
Fuel ($727,338), labor ($343,964), engine overhaul ($191,670), and insurance ($56,987) are all included in that maintenance cost.
Jordan will pay little under $3 million to operate his own plane for 400 hours of flight time.
