Although he is now a member of the exclusive club of four-weight world champions alongside Alvarez, “Bud” Crawford isn’t satisfied to remain at super-welterweight and instead plans to test himself by moving up to super-middleweight.
Even if he isn’t nearly as enthusiastic about the fight, Canelo has said he’ll consider offers. He has already stated that defeating a smaller man would not garner much attention.
Given Crawford’s accomplishments to far, renowned trainer Robert Garcia has no issue with him aiming for greatness when speaking with Fight Hub TV.
If Terence Crawford is seeking a fight, I believe this is it. It’s the most significant battle he’s ever faced. He has accomplished so much in boxing that he isn’t interested in competing against anyone. Canelo will accept a fight if one comes up because of the enormous money he stands to make; otherwise, I doubt he will fight again. Fights are unnecessary, in my opinion. He has established himself successfully and achieved a great deal. He’s fairly intelligent. He’s not going broke like some other fighters. He has a typical life: he takes care of his family and children and everyone else in his vicinity.
Based on Crawford’s recent victory over Israil Madrimov and Canelo’s victory over Edgar Berlanga, Garcia predicts that the American will not be able to overcome the Mexican’s strength.
He will fight valiantly. Even while I doubt he will win, I do think he will put up a solid fight for six or eight rounds. I believe he will deliver solid rounds. I see Canelo dominating after that, but I’d be surprised if Crawford wasn’t up after the first six rounds. Even against Canelo, I see him winning a few rounds.
Both mentally and physically, Terence is a formidable opponent. Crawford runs into problems in the later rounds because to Canelo’s power and strength.
Crawford and Sebastian Fundora are presently in the midst of negotiations for a super-welterweight unification bout. Next May, Canelo will be back in action.
