‘Lean’ Looney Utilizes the New Form
A sweet moment of bonding was shared by Steph with GP2’s young nephew
Steph Curry’s jubilation and acrobatic antics on the court are clear signs that he is a youngster at heart.
Prior to his widely recognized “night night” gesture going viral, the Warriors player was most known for the Curry Shimmy.
So much so that even the newest generation of hoops fans can still relate to it.
Gary Payton II, Curry’s teammate, recently participated in an exclusive Q&A with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda. During the conversation, he was asked to share his favorite story involving Curry.
“A lot is there. “My most memorable experience was traveling to Hawaii via plane,” Payton shared with Medina. “My three-year-old nephew is a huge fan of Steph Curry. He adores Steph so much. He had Steph waiting for him. “Curry! Curry!” was all he could say while on the plane. He practically raced up to him in the center of the aisle as soon as he saw him and began to perform the “Curry shimmy.”
“Steph and Him shared a moment. Steph and him were the only ones shimmying. My nephew, Jacoby Deuce Childs, goes by Jacoby Childs. My favorite moments are definitely when Jacoby gets to see him and connect with him.
Curry’s signature move now days is his “night night” celebration, but the Curry Shimmy was legendary in and of itself. This season, whether Curry makes a crucial 3-pointer or performs a shimmy in a game, Payton’s nephew will undoubtedly be cheering him on from wherever he is.
