Klay Thompson’s trade to the Dallas Mavericks was one of the most significant transactions made during the NBA offseason.

With Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, he has formed a potent new combination since moving to Dallas. Even though Thompson had looked at other clubs as possible destinations, Irving took the chance to entice the standout shooter to Dallas. It didn’t take Irving long to convince three-time NBA champion Thompson to join the Mavericks.

How much of an impact did Kyrie have?Irving revealed how he persuaded Thompson to visit Dallas during the Mavericks’ media day. Irving discussed how the Mavericks foster a supportive environment both on and off the court by drawing on his personal experiences since joining the team in 2022.Irving said, “It was easy to convince Klay to come here.”

“This team goes out of their way to make sure you feel special, not just on the court but in your life as well.”

Thompson, who is seeking a fresh start following his poorest statistical season since his second year in the league, found resonance with Irving’s pitch.

Thompson played for the Golden State Warriors last season, averaging 17.9 points per game and shooting less than 39 percent from three-point range. Even though his shooting percentage dropped, his consistency as a shooter is still undeniable, and his presence on the court is respected.

The offensive addition that Thompson will provide to the Mavericks excites Luka Doncic. Speaking during the media day, Doncic emphasized Thompson’s advantage in spacing out.

“When me and Kai have the ball, you basically can’t help off of Klay,” Doncic said.’ “If you leave him open, he’s going to make it.”

The Mavericks are hopeful that with Thompson joining the team, this trio can help them reach new heights. Their ability to play off of one other’s abilities and turn Dallas into a serious contender in the Western Conference will determine how well they get along.
