In front of 87,000 fans, Terence Crawford surprises everyone with a specially crafted belt as he leaves the field for the Nebraska Huskers

Throughout his career, Terence Crawford has competed in front of sizable crowds, but none nearly compared to the one he faced this past Saturday.

The much awaited college football matchup saw the pound-for-pound boxing sensation leading his hometown team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, onto the field.

86,906 fans filled Memorial Stadium to watch the Huskers play the Colorado Buffaloes in a pivotal game.

Crawford, wearing a special belt similar to the ones he has earned in boxing, escorted the team. Upon closer examination, though, it became clear that this special belt honored the Huskers’ 1994 national championship squad by bearing the team’s logo.

Crawford was seen running out of the tunnel with the teammates in the game footage. They went on to win their second game of the season, keeping their perfect 2-0 record. With a 28-10 victory and avenging their 36-14 loss to Colorado in the previous season, Nebraska dominated defensively.

Supporters of football showered him with compliments. “I knew it was over when I saw Terence walk ’em out,” one fan said on Facebook, while another said, “Need this blown up with the crib’s final score.” “Knew we were in trouble when you came out with the belt, Champ,” said a third.

After defeating Israil Madrimov in a light middleweight fight to win a world title in a fourth weight class, Crawford is currently taking some well-earned time off. Crawford defeated the Uzbek fighter by unanimous decision, but his 11-fight knockout streak—which dates back to 2016—came to a stop.

Many believed that Canelo Alvarez would be his next opponent, but the Mexican boxing star reportedly turned down an offer, according to Saudi boxing authority Turki Alalshikh. Alalshikh subsequently declared he was done with the fight and would look at putting Crawford up against American fighter Vergil Ortiz Jr., who was unbeaten.

Crawford has a bright future in the ring because there are many possible opponents in his future. Ryan Garcia even recently expressed his wish to fight the Nebraskan on social media, branding Crawford a “overhyped bum.” Who Crawford, who now has a 41-0 record, would use to protect his legacy against newcomers will depend on time.
