As Floyd Mayweather stepped into the ring for his bout with John Gotti III in Mexico, NBA sensation Anthony Davis was by his side.
‘The Best Ever’ was welcomed with open arms by the boisterous audience on Saturday night, as Davis was spotted strolling alongside Mayweather’s entourage. The acronym “TBE” was prominently displayed on his ostentatious Mexican poncho.
‘Money’ and Davis each made their entrances with Lakers teammate Jarred Vanderbilt before the much-anticipated fight began.Despite rumors to the contrary, Anthony Edwards, star of the Minnesota Timberwolves, did not accompany Mayweather to the ring.
Despite much conjecture leading up to the fight, it remains unknown whether the shooting guard was present.Davis sported a loose-fitting outfit consisting of black skinny trousers and a white-and-blue button-down shirt with short sleeves. Vanderbilt matched the laid-back vibe in a baseball cap, loose-fitting black slacks, and a sleeveless red t-shirt.
Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, and Lil’ Wayne were among Mayweather’s prior ringside companions.
The bout between Mayweather (50-0) and Gotti III—a former mixed martial arts fighter turned boxer—was postponed in the sixth round due to disturbances outside the arena.Mayweather has already walked out with two basketball stars, Davis being the first. He and Edwards were members of the United States basketball team that competed for the gold medal in the recent summer Olympics in Paris.
Before Bieber’s 2013 fight with Canelo Alvarez, he was with TBE.
Lil’ Wayne and Mayweather left the gym together in 2015.
But in 2007, Snoop got first dibs.
