As investors and brand partners, the power couple is doubling down on their passion for amplifying health and wellness for all by joining with PLEZi Nutrition, the Public Benefit Company co-founded by former First Lady Michelle Obama. Established in 2023, the company is “dedicated to raising the bar for American food and drink manufacturing and marketing practices pertaining to children.”

In addition, last year the firm debuted PLEZi, a children’s drink that contains 75% less sugar than the leading 100% fruit juices on the market.

The partnership was effortless, Ayesha says in an interview with ESSENCE. During Mrs. Obama’s tenure as First Lady, we collaborated with her to bolster her Let’s Move! program, which aimed to promote family wellness by bringing together different sectors. We were immediately drawn to PLEZi Nutrition’s objective to make healthier choices fun and accessible since, as parents, Stephen and I have always been deeply committed to our children’s health and welfare. We witnessed PLEZi’s good influence on families personally, and our children simply cannot get enough of the drinks.

The Currys’ partnership with the brand was an obvious choice, given that they are parents of four.

Stephen tells ESSENCE that their children adore the items. Companies like PLEZi, which put an emphasis on health without sacrificing flavor, are essential, but on a deeper level. As a father and professional athlete, I’ve seen firsthand the difference that healthy eating makes, both on and off the field. We share PLEZi’s goal of facilitating a cultural shift towards healthy habits, and their dedication to making nutrition approachable and enjoyable struck a chord with us.

A recent study by the CDC indicated that among children of Hispanic descent, the prevalence of obesity was 26.2%, whereas among non-Hispanic Black children, it was 24.8%. By ensuring that all deserving families have equal access to healthy, tasty food options, PLEZi Nutrition hopes to get to the bottom of the problem.

In a news statement shared with ESSENCE, former First Lady Michelle Obama, Co-Founder and Strategic Partner of PLEZi Nutrition, expressed her excitement about the addition of Stephen and Ayesha Curry to the PLEZi Nutrition family. Their example is quite inspiring. Having fun while being creative, honest, and excellent at what they do makes them stand out. Their goals of enhancing children’s lives and encouraging healthy lifestyles are in perfect harmony with our own PLEZi Nutrition vision. We are thrilled to be collaborating with them to encourage the youth of today to make better food and lifestyle choices.
