Memory Side! Legend Kobe Bryant in Paris 2017
Jimmy Fallon, Zinedine Zidane, and Thierry Henry are just a few of the famous faces that will be tuning in to the nail-biting basketball final between the United States and France at the Paris Olympics
Thierry Henry, Jimmy Fallon, and Zinedine Zidane were among the famous faces that filled the Paris Olympic basketball final benches Wednesday night.
The match between Les Bleus and the NBA stars was also witnessed by President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte.
There were much more French fans than the devoted Americans who had flown across the Atlantic to see their heroes compete.
Before the game started, the audience sang the French national anthem, “La Marseillaise,” with great enthusiasm.
‘Allez les Bleus’ (Come on the blues) was sung by the French national anthem-wearing ensemble to the rhythm of drums in front of the sold-out 13,000 spectators.
Unfortunately for the underdog French team, the heavily favored United States squad went on to win 98-87 and claim their sixth consecutive men’s basketball Olympic gold medal. At one point during the game, French Olympic football team captain Thierry Henry was seen enthusiastically clapping his hands and rooting for his country.
While taking a selfie with a supporter during the game, comedian Jimmy Fallon flashed a smile and the peace sign.
From the stands, French football star Zinedine Zidane maintained a low profile while wearing a cap, appearing intently focused on the sport.
Megan Rapinoe, the first female soccer captain, was a vocal member of a small but mighty fan group for Team USA.
Among those seated with Rapinoe and her fiancé Sue Bird was ex-Lakers star Pau Gasol. Bird played in five Olympic games for the United States women’s basketball team.
Not only was French ex-point star Tony Parker there, but Bulls legend Scottie Pippen was there as well, so there was no shortage of basketball skill at the occasion.
Not only that, but Anthony’s son Kiyan was there, and Pippen and Anthony were joined by ex-Knicks great Stephon Marbury.
