Festus Ezeli and Klay Thompson, two former teammates of the Warriors, travel to Cameroon

Despite the strangeness of Klay Thompson’s departure from the Golden State Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks guard maintains strong relationships with other Dubs family members. Indeed, Thompson and Festus Ezeli, a former Warriors center and current Warriors announcer, were in Cameroon not long ago to lend their support to a U20 tournament and kids basketball camps. Some of the clips that Ezeli posted to his Instagram stories have been reposted on Twitter by @ceeayech, who should be credited for the original upload.

While growing up in Nigeria, Ezeli was an outspoken supporter of efforts to spread basketball across the continent. Ezeli heads up VisionC, a charity that uses basketball as a tool to empower young people. Ezeli may have recruited Thompson to assist with VisionC as he mentioned them in a few of his writings.

The inaugural VisionC basketball camps were held in 2022, according to their website. Campers of both sexes, ranging in age from fourteen to seventeen, participate in a variety of off-court social activities throughout the course of many days. The U20 Vision Annual Tournament was also held there. Thompson was said by Ezeli to have thrown the first jump ball in the U20 tournament final.Throughout his career, Ezeli was a reliable rotation center for the Warriors after being selected in the first round by the team in 2012. But injuries would cut his playing time short, limiting him to just 170 games throughout his career. However, Ezeli was a part of the Warriors’ 2014–15 championship squad and continued to see action in the 2015–16 season, helping them to a 73–9 record.

Naturally, Thompson’s time with the Warriors was extremely lengthy and eventful, culminating in a monument outside Chase Center and induction into the Hall of Fame. However, as his tenure with the Mavs continues, he plans to add further achievements to his résumé.
