Watching Americans Simone Biles and Suni Lee participate at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Stephen Curry and the men’s basketball team from USA Basketball were there at the women’s gymnastics individual all-around final on Thursday.
Curry witnessed Biles lead the field with a vault score of 15.766 to start the individual final.
In the 2024 Olympics, Lee and Biles are both vying for their second gold medal. In the team all-around final on Monday, both gymnasts assisted the United States in winning gold.
While Biles won gold in the same event during the 2016 Rio Olympics, Lee came into the competition as the current champion.
Both have the chance to make history by being the first female gymnasts to win gold in the individual all-around competition twice in a row since 1968.
At Bercy Arena, a star-studded audience turned out to witness Olympic history.
Celebrities Bob Costas, Seth Rogen, Kendall Jenner, and Martha Stewart were among those present at the final, along with skateboarding great Tony Hawk, according to the NBC broadcast.
There had previously been high-profile spectators for Lee and Biles’ competitions in Paris. Olympian Nadia Comăneci, tennis great Serena Williams, and swimming great Michael Phelps were among those in attendance as Team USA won the gold in the team final earlier this week.
In contrast, the men’s basketball squad is currently enjoying a two-day break from action. USA Basketball will play Puerto Rico on Saturday in its last group-stage match after defeating South Sudan and Serbia to get to the knockout tournament.
But before that, on Thursday in Paris, Curry and his teammates will be watching Biles and Lee as the gymnasts attempt to increase the number of medals won by the United States against a formidable field of rivals that includes Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.
