Liverpool defeated Sheffield United 3-1 to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League standings. The goals from Nunez, Mac Allister, and Gakpo gave the Anfield squad the victory.
Liverpool was under a lot of pressure after Man City and Arsenal’s triumphs in the first two games of round 31; in order to regain the top spot in the Premier League, Klopp’s squad needed to defeat Sheffield United.
At the first whistle, Liverpool pushed their attacking formation high, with the ball nearly exclusively rolling on the opposition side of the field. When Nunez raced in to reduce the gap after goalie Grbic cleared the ball in the seventeenth minute, the ball struck the Liverpool striker and sailed into the net. Liverpool’s first goal came after a really foolish error made by goalkeeper Grbic.

Liverpool’s players kept applying more pressure after they had taken the lead, but their forwards had 14 shots in the opening 45 minutes and were unable to put the ball in the net. Liverpool missed most of their shots.
After playing passably for a while, Sheffield United unexpectedly equalized in the fifty-first minute. Hammer’s header went close to Liverpool’s left post. Bradley was struck by the ball, which then veered into the net. The Liverpool defender counts the goal by the opposition as an own goal.
The Liverpool players were under a lot of pressure after their surprising defeat. The home team put on more offensive pressure, but Liverpool’s players were ineffectual, as they had been in the first half. Coach Klopp substituted Salah for Elliott in the 60th minute of play. The Egyptian striker was upset with this choice.
Nevertheless, Mac Allister was ultimately able to release Liverpool’s strain. The Argentine midfielder curled the ball into the upper right corner of the goal in the 76th minute after taking up the ball inside the penalty area and shooting with his right foot. In this scenario, Grbic has no chance of saving.

Liverpool kept up their intense pressure after adding a second goal, searching for more while keeping the opposition from getting back up. Gakpo scored Liverpool’s third goal in the ninetieth minute, despite the fact that they were still missing more shots than hitting the goal.
Liverpool is two points clear of second-place Arsenal and three points ahead of the defending champion Man City with 70 points after 31 rounds.
