The Golden State Warriors won their fourth straight game on Sunday night, holding off the undermanned San Antonio Spurs 117-113 behind 33 points from Stephen Curry.

After the Rockets’ Sunday home defeat to Dallas, Curry went 12 for 23 from the field and made 7 of 15 3-pointers as Golden State held onto the final play-in place in the Western Conference, two games ahead of Houston.

Center Victor Wembanyama of the Spurs finished with 32 points and 9 rebounds.

With four seconds left, Wembanyama was called for an over-the-back foul on what would have been his tenth rebound. To complete the victory, Warriors forward Draymond Green made one of his two free throws.

Green had 11 rebounds and 21 points in the end.

With 59 seconds left, San Antonio went on a 7-0 run to trim Golden State’s advantage to 113-111. In response, Klay Thompson made a three-pointer.

Thompson scored 13 points in the end.

Due to injury, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and Dominick Barlow were not available for San Antonio.

With three of their top four scorers and over fifty points per game gone, the Spurs looked to their bench. Throughout the first part, they answered.

In the first half, Zach Collins, Sandro Mamukelashvili, and Cedi Osman combined for 34 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists. Osman ended with eighteen points, Collins with thirteen, and Mamukelashvili with ten.

Golden State led 66-60 with 9:39 remaining in the third quarter after starting the second half on a 14-0 run that featured back-to-back 3-pointers from Green and Curry. Wembanyama put a stop to the drought with a reverse slam off a Jones alley-oop pass.

The Warriors turned a 10-point deficit in the second quarter into an eight-point advantage going into the fourth quarter by outscoring the Spurs 37-21 in the third quarter.

After going 17 for 43, San Antonio broke the franchise record for 3-pointers made in a season with 941. In 2022, the previous record was 925.

With seven games left, San Antonio can still avoid having the worst record in team history, which is 18-57, missing the futility mark of 20-62 set in 1997.
