Thursday evening marked the London Football Awards, during which the Premier League Player of the Year trophy was presented.
The 2024 London Football Awards have bestowed the title of London’s Premier League Player of the Year upon Declan Rice. This is his second occasion receiving this award; he won it for his performances with West Ham in 2022.
Currently a member of the Arsenal squad, Rice reclaimed the trophy at Thursday’s competition, succeeding Martin Odegaard, a fellow Gunner and winner from the previous year. Additionally, William Saliba of Arsenal, Jarrod Bowen of West Ham, Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham, and Pedro Porro of Tottenham were all nominated. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was unsuccessful in securing the Manager of the Year accolade; that distinction was bestowed upon Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou. Additionally, Tottenham was ecstatic because goalkeeper Vicario was dubbed Goalkeeper of the Year. Michael Olise of Crystal Palace was named Goal of the Year for his outstanding effort against Luton.
.
Cole Palmer of Chelsea was dubbed the Young Player of the Year, whereas Lauren James, another Chelsea player, was named the WSL Player of the Year for the capital. Aggie Beever-Jones was named the recipient of the Women’s Young Player of the Year nomination. The London Football Awards ultimately bestowed the EFL Player of the Year award upon Alfie May of Charlton.
