Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez was compared by Liverpool legend Phil Thompson to former Arsenal player Thierry Henry after his double against Bournemouth.
Striker Darwin Nunez left a deep impression in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Bournemouth last weekend. Uruguayan striker Nunez scored the opening goal in the 49th minute and set the score in the 90+3 minute. Winning all 3 points from the victory in the away trip against Bournemouth, Liverpool continues to maintain the top spot in the Premier League 2023/24 rankings with 48 points after 21 rounds.
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson recently affirmed that the Uruguayan striker reminds him of former Arsenal player Thierry Henry. “What’s great about Darwin is what any fan would love,” Thompson said. He never gives up, and always tries to create opportunities for himself. Although there have been failures, in general Liverpool fans love what Darwin has contributed with his constant efforts. Darwin just needs to pay more attention to finishing to reach the level of Thierry Henry.”
Since joining Liverpool from Benfica with a contract worth £85 million in the summer of 2022, Nunez has made 73 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring 25 goals. A double against Bournemouth last weekend helped Nunez become the first player in the Premier League to reach 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season.
