Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup came at a very high price. Accordingly, defender Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered a knee ιnjury after this match.
Alexander-Arnold was injured for more than a month, Liverpool was worried
Liverpool assistant coach Pepijn Lijnders recently revealed that right-back Alexander-Arnold will have to sit out for a few weeks due to a knee ιnjury suffered in the win over Arsenal.
“First of all, there is bad news for our team. Accordingly, Trent suffered a knee ιnjury in the match against Arsenal last weekend,” Lijnders said.
“He has a slight tear in the lateral ligament of his right knee and will need time to recover. Trent has been examined by doctors and will likely be out of action for a few weeks.”
“Trent will rest for a while and then hopefully be able to return. He is an important pillar of Liverpool. We will miss him very much in the upcoming matches.”
In the immediate future, Alexander-Arnold will not be able to attend the League Cup semi-final against Fulham on the morning of January 11. He is even likely to be absent from important matches against Chelsea (February 1) and Arsenal (February 4).
However, there is good news for Liverpool: captain midfielder Virgil van Dijk has returned to training after missing the match against Arsenal. The Dutchman fell ill just before kιck-off but is now able to play against Fulham.
