Bronny James Reveals LeBron James as His ‘All-Time Favorite Player’

When asked about his all-time favorite basketball player, Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, gave a not-so-surprising answer.

Bronny, who is 19, took a moment to consider the question before responding with a nod to his famous father, saying, “Like, LeBron James or something,” with a smile.

Bronny has chosen to wear the number 6 for the University of Southern California, the same number his father wore for two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers before switching back to 23 for the current season.

Bronny’s answer elicited laughter from his friends, as can be heard in the background of the video shared by USC Basketball on X (formerly Twitter).

Bronny is the oldest of LeBron’s three children and has a 16-year-old brother named Bryce and a 9-year-old sister named Zhuri. LeBron and his wife, Savannah James, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on September 14.

This year, Bronny was one of the most sought-after high school players, although the date of his first college game remains unknown. The new season is set to begin on November 6 when USC plays against Kansas State in Las Vegas as part of the Hall of Fame Series. Bronny is still recovering from a heart issue he experienced in July and underwent surgery to address “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect.”

In August, Bronny’s family expressed confidence in his full recovery and return to basketball in the near future.

USC basketball coach Andy Enfield stated on September 24 that Bronny was “doing very well,” but due to his health, they couldn’t provide further details. He also mentioned Bronny’s dedication to his studies, and how well he performs academically.

Bronny did not practice with the team for the first time on September 23, and the university hasn’t provided any additional information about his health.

However, Bronny made an appearance at USC’s annual HoopLA event on October 1, where he interacted with fans and even showcased some dance moves during his introduction.

LeBron James, who won the NBA Rookie of the Year award with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, is now the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with over 38,000 points. While he looks forward to seeing his son play in college, he also hopes to see another James family member shine in the NBA.

In May, Bronny made the decision to play college football at USC, a choice his father described as “one of the best days of my life.” LeBron expressed pride in his son’s decision, especially because it marked the first time someone outside of their family was going to college.
