Dell Curry, the father of Golden State Warriors’ star, Steph Curry, made a public statement about his remarriage following his divorce from Sonya.
The divorce between Dell and Sonya was a highly publicized affair, marked by allegations of infidelity and other misconduct hurled between the two. In a moment of distress, Stephen, his elder son, yelled down to Seth, his younger brother and a player for the Philadelphia 76ers, to reassure him of his continued care and support.
Though it appeared that the father and eldest son were managing well and remained actively involved in each other’s lives, rumors suggested that the divorce had caused a strain in their relationship.
Sonya initiated the divorce proceedings in a North Carolina court, and both parties had previously expressed their sadness over the end of their marriage after extensive contemplation and discussion.
However, it seems that Dell wasted no time in moving on with his life, as he promptly tied the knot again, choosing to stay on the East Coast.
“Yes,” he confirmed to the Charlotte Observer. “It’s fantastic. After the divorce, I was at a loss for what to do. Moving to the West Coast was an option, but I told myself, ‘I won’t do what my sons want me to do. I’m going to see this through. Stay here.’ Then, some friends introduced me to the woman who would become my wife. It was our second meeting. About a month after our first phone call, we finally met in person. I thought, ‘I really like this person. What’s going on?’ I had said I wouldn’t remarry, but this is the happiest time of my life. It’s perfect in every way. I feel like I’m in a really good place right now. The situation at home is stable. Everyone in my children’s families is healthy and happy. I have their approval, and I’m happy for them. Therefore, I am happy.”
Sonya, too, seems to be ready to move forward. During the NBA Finals in June, she was spotted cheering for her son and the Warriors as they faced the Boston Celtics. Observant fans on social media platforms quickly noticed the new couple in attendance and shared their thoughts on the matter.
